Hi! I am Ajith I am a Software Engineer, my lovely wife Sundari;
ours was a love marriage. We were living happily, had loads of love and fun for
each other. Sundari was the mischief one, and I was the quite one. She always
had some tricks to play on me, and that most of the times spiced our relation.
We were in our first year of marriage and our first karwachauth together was in
a few days.
She was very excited
about the festival and fast and everything, and I too wanted to do the same for
her but she wouldn’t allow me. Today, after office I decided to speak to her
again and convince her to let me do it for her. I bought a saree for her as a
gift for the festival, and thought it might help me put my point.
At home, I tried to
convince her again, but she told me that this festival is for wives and wives
only, and I should not take that from her. To which I couldn’t say anything but
got a bit sad too. She came to me said, “didn’t you realise by now, karvachauth
is for wives to fast for good health and long age of their husbands”, to which
I replied “fine, just have me as your wife for a day then. I will be your wife
but I also want to have fast and pray for your health and longer life”. She
could see how much I wanted to do it but still tried not to have me go through
all of it for her.
Showing me the saree I gifted her, she said “See, this is what wives get for karwachauth and this is what we wear the occasion. Do you really want to do this.” I didn’t think of anything much, so just replied “if this is what it takes, then fine, I will do it.” She was surprised but agreed to me.
